Experience

I began my teaching career in Nashville, Tennessee in Metro Nashville Public Schools in 2001. I continued to work in MNPS until 2014. During that time in Nashville, I worked as a 2nd grade teacher and a Reading Specialist/Interventionist.  For eight years, I was also a school Literacy Coach.  During the summer of 2014, I moved back to Hopkinsville, my hometown, and was excited to began teaching at Indian Hills Elementary.  After teaching first grade for the 2014-2015 school year, I moved into the RTA (Read To Achieve) position teaching Reading Recovery and small group reading intervention to students in grades K-3 for two years.

Beginning in the 2017-2018 school year, I will be in training to be the District/Regional Reading Recovery Teacher Leader.  I am excited that my office will be at Crofton Elementary School .  I look forward to working with the first grade students at Crofton as well as the teachers and staff.

Bio

I am originally from Hopkinsville and graduated from Christian County High School.  After high school, I attended Murray State University and graduated with a Bachelors in Elementary Education.  After college, I moved to Nashville, TN to start my teaching career.  In 2014, I moved back to Hopkinsville to be closer to my family and especially my two nieces.

First and foremost, I love to read!  I read about two books a month during the school year.  On spring break, I will read four or five books in a week!  I love to spend time with my family.  I also enjoy time with friends since they are very dear to me.
